General & Getting Started
Start here if you’re new to Endute.
- What is Endute?
Endute is a personal finance app that brings every part of your financial life into one place: bank accounts, investments, debt, and property. It works across the UK, EU, US, and Canada, and in any currency you use. Read the full story.
- Is Endute a financial advisor?
No. Endute is a tracking and insight tool, not a regulated advice service. We don’t tell you what to do with your money. We give you the clearest possible picture of your financial life so you can make your own informed decisions, or have better conversations with an adviser.
- How does Endute handle multiple currencies?
Endute is built for a global financial life. You can connect accounts in any currency (GBP, EUR, USD, CAD, and dozens more). When showing your total net worth and reports, Endute automatically converts everything to the base reporting currency you choose in your profile, using daily-updated exchange rates. One clear picture, no matter where your money is.
- Can I track assets like my house or car?
Yes. Beyond standard financial accounts, Endute lets you add custom assets to track things like property, vehicles, or valuable collectibles. You can update their value whenever you like so your net worth calculation stays comprehensive and accurate.
- Which countries does Endute support?
Endute connects to banks across the UK, EU, US, and Canada through regulated Open Banking providers. You can use it from anywhere in the world, but automatic bank connections are available only in those regions. If your bank isn’t supported, you can still add accounts and track transactions manually.
- Is there a mobile app?
Yes. Endute is launching on iOS and Android. You can use it on the web in the meantime, and your data syncs across every device.
Security & Privacy
How your data is protected, and who can touch it.
- Is my data ever sold to third parties?
No, never. Not anonymised, not aggregated, not to anyone. Our revenue comes from your subscription. You pay for Endute, so you’re the customer, not the product. We don’t rely on ads or data tracking to keep the lights on.
- Is my financial data secure?
Yes. Your data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest with industry-standard algorithms. We enforce multi-factor authentication, maintain least-privilege access internally, and host your data in the EU and US depending on where you live.
- What is Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
MFA adds a second layer of security to your account. After entering your password, you provide a time-sensitive 6-digit code from an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, 1Password, or Authy. Even if someone steals your password, they can’t access your account without your phone.
- What is Open Banking, and is it safe?
Open Banking is a regulated framework (PSD2 in the UK and EU, equivalent schemes in the US and Canada) that lets you share financial data from your bank with authorised apps like Endute. The connection is made directly with your bank, the access is read-only, and your banking login never touches our servers. It’s the most secure way to automate imports.
- What happens to my data if I cancel?
You can delete your account from within Endute at any time. Once deleted, your data is removed from our active systems in line with GDPR’s right to erasure. If you cancel your subscription without deleting the account, your data is retained per our privacy policy so you can come back later.
Features & Functionality
What the app actually does.
- Do I have to connect my bank accounts?
No. Open Banking is the fastest way to get going, but Endute is built for flexibility. You can manually enter transactions and balances if you prefer, or mix manual accounts with connected ones.
- Where does investment data come from?
We partner with a leading third-party market data provider to source up-to-date prices for global stocks, ETFs, and other securities. Your portfolio valuations stay accurate and current.
- What’s the difference between Time-Weighted Return (TWR) and Money-Weighted Return (MWR)?
TWR measures the performance of the investments themselves, removing the effect of when you add or withdraw cash. It’s best for comparing your strategy against a benchmark like the S&P 500.
MWR (also called XIRR) measures your actual personal return as an investor, including the impact of your timing. It tells you the real-world outcome of your choices.
Endute calculates both, so you see the full picture.
- Can I create custom reports?
Yes. All reports in Endute are filterable by date, account, category, and more. When you build a view you love, you can save it as a named custom report for instant access later.
- How does budgeting work?
Set monthly spending targets for any category, for example £400 for groceries or £100 for entertainment. As transactions come in, Endute tracks your spending against those targets automatically. The Budget vs Actuals report shows a clear breakdown of where you’re on track and where you’re overspending.
- What is FIRE planning?
FIRE stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early. Endute's FIRE planning module lets you model your entire path to financial independence with multi-phase timelines, per-phase accounts and income sources, Monte Carlo simulation, historical backtesting, and interactive what-if scenarios. Unlike simple FIRE calculators, Endute uses your real bank data to calculate your savings rate, FI number, and time to FI.
- How does the Monte Carlo simulation work?
Endute runs 1,000 simulations of your retirement plan, each with randomised market returns drawn from historical volatility patterns. The result is a probability distribution showing the likelihood your plan survives. You see fan charts (P10 to P90 bands) and a single success percentage. This tells you not just what might happen, but how confident you can be in the outcome.
- Can I model multiple retirement phases?
Yes. Most FIRE calculators assume one phase. Endute lets you define as many phases as your life needs: accumulation, coast, early retirement (before state pension), late retirement (with pension income). Each phase has its own accounts, growth rates, income sources, budgets, tax rate, and one-off events. The last phase extends to your plan horizon automatically.
Billing & Subscription
Plans, payments, and cancellations.
- How does the free trial work?
You get 37 days of full-featured access: 30 days to track a complete month of real transactions, plus 7 extra days to decide. No credit card is required up front. Connect accounts, set budgets, save toward goals. You’ll only be charged if you choose to continue after day 37.
- What happens when my free trial ends?
Your account access is paused until you subscribe. Everything you’ve entered during the trial stays saved, so when you come back it’s all there.
- How do I manage my subscription?
Endute uses Stripe to process subscriptions. You can update your payment method, change plans, or cancel at any time through Stripe’s secure customer portal, accessible from your account settings inside Endute.
- Can I get a refund if I cancel?
Subscriptions are billed in advance and are non-refundable. When you cancel, you keep full access to Endute until the end of your current paid billing period. No surprise charges after that.
Troubleshooting
Quick answers to common hiccups.
- Why can’t I find my bank when trying to connect an account?
We connect to banks through regulated Open Banking partners with broad coverage across the UK, EU, US, and Canada. Not every bank is supported yet. If yours isn’t on the list, you can still add the account and track transactions using manual entry.
- I’ve forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
On the login page, click “Forgot password?” and enter the email address on your account. We send a secure one-time link to that email. Click it, set a new password, and you’re back in.
- How do I delete my account?
From your account settings inside Endute, you can fully delete your account and all associated data. Deletion is permanent and removes your data from our active systems in line with GDPR’s right to erasure.
- How do I export my data?
From your account settings, you can export your transactions, accounts, and budgets to CSV at any time. Your data is yours, and you can take it with you whenever you want.
